Winner: SIN, 1999 dark bay/brown colt by Pulpit x
Easy Lover, Easy Goer
Owner/Trainer: Staci Harbold Bred by Country Road Farm (PA)
SIN broke well to settle just off the pace, moved up to
press BM in backstretch and charged home to surge past him at the wire. BLUE MORPHO broke quickly to set a
fast pace and led the pack nearly wire to wire, surprised by Sin in deep
stretch. Favorite SOMEBODY ELSE
stalked the pace and was moving up in stretch but too late to matter. SMOOTH AWAY went out fast to gamely
press BM, tired. TARTAN SIZZLE
had trouble at the break, tried hard to recover but not enough time to make up
gap.
Steward’s notes: Today’s Suburban Handicap sported a small but talented field, any
of which had a strong chance to win.
Stacy Harbold’s Sin proved himself the best today with a near-perfect
performance. Pace-setting Blue Morpho
almost pulled off a wire to wire win and helped to stage an exciting stretch
battle. Somebody Else ran a solid race
but lacked his typical strong late driving effort. Smooth Away gave a game performance against a tough field in his
graded stakes debut today. Bad luck
plagued the stunning Tartan Sizzle today – no doubt he’ll come back strong
another day! Thanks to everyone who
gave me the opportunity to host their fabulous horses!
